2005-6 Sporting Idols Carling Cup Challenge

Each entrant must complete the entry form, strongest team to weakest, top to bottom so that each team has a position and each position has a team.

Each team and entrant start with zero points

CARLING CUP SCORING SYSTEM

Your score is the sum of each team's points multiplied by the your rating of those teams plus bonus points gained during the challenge
If team A moves into the 1/4 final, then team A scores 25 points.
Entrants rating team A as the winner of the tournament receive 17 times team A's score. ie 17 x 25 = 425 points for qualifying.
Entrants rating team A as 2nd best score 16 times team A's score. ie 400 points.
Entrants rating team A in any other position score points as per the the rating given by the entrant, so that your bottom prediction only scores 25 points for 1/4 final qualification

How the teams accrue points
  • Each team scores 2 points for each goal scored throughout the tournament (3rd round-final)
  • Each team loses 1 points for each goal conceded during the tournament
(Goals scored as part of a penalty shoot out do not count)

  • Teams winning their 3rd round matches gain 5 bonus points.
  • Teams reaching the last 8 score 25 bonus points.
  • All 4 semi finalists score 50 points.
  • Both finalists score 100 points.
  • Outright winners score 250 points.

    Bonus Points
There are several opportunities to pick up bonus points.
Entrants will be emailed an invitation to answer each bonus question.
Each question will be about the Carling Cup and will be worth varying points.
Please ensure your email address is correctly entered in the FF database. The only way to gain extra points is by responding to these questions!
FF compare the actual result, with your prediction.
Every time that one of your predictions is correct (the answer exactly matches the actual result of the question posed), you collect the points awarded for that bonus question.
The winner of the 1st prize is the entrant whose total points is greatest. It is not necessary to get a 100% correct solution.

The tiebreak will only be used if two or more entries are tied for any prize. The tie break will based on the next major football match, and will be set when a tiebreak is needed.

    Grand Total
The sum of your score and bonus scores

For the purpose of this game, points available at any time will only be awarded to Premiership teams. Should a non-Premiership team win the tournament then the 250 points available for winning the Carling Cup will not be awarded.
