2005 Six NationsChallenge for DEC

Scoring System

Before closing date, each entrant is asked to fill in the entry form in an attempt to score most points.

On the entry form, entrants should predict which nation they think will win the 6 Nations Championship. Entrants then predict which nation will be the runners up. Complete the entry form, stongest to weakest so that each nation is in a position and each position has a nation.

Each nation and entrant starts with zero, on 5.02.05.
An entrant's score is the sum of each nation's points multiplied by the entrant's rating of the nations.
If nation A scores a try, then nation A scores 5 points.
Entrants rating nation A as the winner of the tournament receive 6 times nation A's score. ie 6 x 5 = 30 points for scoring a try.
Entrants rating nation A as 2nd best, score 5 times nation A's score. ie 25 points per try.
Entrants rating nation A in any other position score points as per the multiplication table

How the nations accrue points
Each nation gains points accrued throughout any match.

  • Nations score 1 point for every point scored during every match they play
(ie 5 per try, 2 per conversion, and 3 for penalties and drop goals)
  • Each nation also scores 50 points for a match victory or 25 for a drawn match
  • Winning the 6 Nations tournament carries a 500 point bonus, whilst the team in 2nd scores 250, the team in 3rd 100, the team in 4th an extra 50 and the team in 5th, 25.

    Bonus Points
There are multiple opportunities for you to pick up bonus points.
Entrants will be emailed invitations to answer bonus questions.
The questions will be about the 6 Nations Championship and will be worth varying points.

FF compare the actual result with your prediction.
Every time that one of your predictions is correct (the answer exactly matches the actual result of the question posed), you collect the points awarded for that bonus question.
The winner of the 1st prize is the entrant whose total points is greatest.
It is not necessary to get a 100% correct solution.

The tiebreak will only be used if two or more entries are tied for the prize. The tie break will based on the next major rugby event, and will be set when a tiebreak is needed.
